Abstract :
Soft Computing is a multidisciplinary field originally proposed by Dr. Lotfi Zadeh. It is the fusion of methodologies designed to model solution to real world problems that are otherwise difficult to model mathematically. Fuzzy Logic, Neural Network and Evolutionary Computation are main constituents of Soft Computing. Soft computing techniques have been successfully implemented in past to solve a number of problems including forecasting. Forecasting of Crime is an interesting subject, though meagerly used in law enforcement. Fuzzy time series methods for forecasting of student enrollment at University of Alabama have been used by many researchers in past. In this paper, we investigate the applicability of fuzzy time series technique for crime prediction.
