Security is crucial for wireless sensor networks deployed in hostile environments. The packet droppers and packet modifiers may be random. Identifying such attacks is very difficult and sometimes impossible. In this paper the identification and filtering of packet droppers and packet modifier nodes is done using packet marks and ranking algorithms using NS2. The performance is measured using detection rate and false positive probability. The results indicate that the proposed scheme provides an effective mechanism for detecting compromised node.
