Increasing progress of multimedia communication has increased the significant approaches to deal with the problems like unstable channel conditions, limited resources and mobility of infrastructure less wireless networks. A cross layer design is the effective approach to allow the direct communication between protocols towards non-adjacent layers or sharing variables between layers and utilizing their information to improve the performance of the mobile ad hoc network. In this paper we investigate a cross layer approach which overcomes the problem of resource constraints and simultaneously provides a reliable and QoS path for routing by exchanging the crucial QoS parameters among different layers. Our simulation study reveals a persistent improvement on various factors to analyze the performance of MANETs.
